Welcome to Sussex Antenatal Classes
Sussex Antenatal Classes are evening and weekend courses for prospective parents in East
and West Sussex.
The classes are held on two evenings and a Sunday. There is ample time to provide you with plenty of information about the end stages of pregnancy, labour, birth and coping with your new baby.
The course leaders are Kerry Taylor and Louise Readman, both experienced and practicing midwives, and they aim to make the classes realistic, informal and fun. They cover topics
that are included in an N.H.S. course such as traditional pain relief, hospital policies and procedures, in more depth and in addition to this, discuss homebirths, alternative therapies and other coping techniques.
As the class sizes are small (6 to 8 couples) the classes can be very flexible and tailored to
the needs of the group. The course is aimed at first time parents; however parents who have already got children often come to have a refresher before their next baby, especially if there has been a long gap.
We try to book couples in to the class at approximately the same stage of pregnancy, as many people choose to keep in contact whilst on maternity leave and can be a great source of support.
